Week 2: Peace (2025)

1 Advent Header: Hope

Christ the Cornerstone of Peace

In this season of Advent we remember that true peace is found, not in perfect circumstances, but in God’s presence as we wait. Throughout scripture, we read that God’s people often waited through seasons that felt uncertain or weary, yet God continued to speak promises of peace into their lives. Jesus echoed this promise in John 14:27 when He said, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” His peace is steady, deep, and untouched by the circumstances around us.

This week we remember that waiting can be a place where peace grows. When we quiet our hearts before God, we begin to see that His peace does not depend on everything going the way we hoped. It is rooted in His promise to be near. Even when the world feels restless, God invites us to trust that He is working in ways we cannot yet see. Peace becomes a gift we receive as we lean into His presence with patience and faith.

As Christmas draws closer, we hold on to the promise that the Savior who is coming brings a peace stronger than every fear and every worry. Christ is the One who calms anxious hearts and steadies our steps. May this week of Advent fill our homes and our community with His peace, a peace that carries us through our waiting and prepares us for the joy that is on the way.

Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. Luke 2:14
