UPDATE: DISTANCE LEARNING FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

March 30, 2020

Dear Elementary School Families,

Last week Governor Ivey ordered schools to remain closed for the rest of the school year. Cornerstone will complete the remainder of the year doing distance learning.  This required learning will start April 6 and end May 22. The plan is to re-open for next year on schedule.

Our administrators and faculty have a strong plan for accomplishing learning. To accomplish the learning we need you to:

All elementary families grades K5-5th are required to:

Pick up student learning materials on Thursday, April 2 between the hours of 8am – 10am OR 4pm – 6pm at the elementary campus. Because our faculty is working from home, if you are unable to pick up on Thursday, please secure a relative, friend, or other Cornerstone parent to pick up materials for you.

  1.  Your child’s workbooks and print materials needed for the remainder of the school year will be delivered to your car using the same traffic pattern as morning carpool.
  2. Each Monday morning, your child’s teacher will send an email to both your personal email address and your child’s Cornerstone email address with the learning assignments for the week.  Your child will have required daily Bible, Language Arts, and Math instruction, as well as flex learning for additional opportunities.  All independent work is to be completed in the print materials that are supplied by the school, and any new content will be taught through instructional videos in the weekly email that can be accessed through smart phone, tablet, and computer.  Your child’s teacher will be available to support your student as he/she completes assignments.

The faculty and staff of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama are praying for you daily. Thank you for your support.

May God bless you and keep you safe.

In Christ,

Dr. Nita. Carr

UPDATE: DISTANCE LEARNING FOR MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

March 30, 2020

Dear Middle and High School Families,

Last week Governor Ivey ordered schools to remain closed for the rest of the school year. Cornerstone will complete the remainder of the year doing distance learning.  This will start April 6 and end May 22.  The plan is to re-open for next year on schedule.

Our administrators and faculty have a strong plan for accomplishing learning.

Beginning Wednesday, April 8th, parents and students will receive an email from teachers showing the weekly plan with instructional videos and/or assignments for the remainder of that week.  These assignments and videos will also be posted on Google classroom as well.

Beginning Monday, April 13, students will receive required weekly instructional videos and assignments each Monday for the remainder of the year.  Teachers will hold two designated “office hours” each day to be available to answer student and parent questions via email.

Assignments will be graded and have deadlines that are expected to be met. We are asking teachers to make assignments that can be completed on a phone or computer.  If the student has a written assignment, the student may take a picture of the assignment and send the assignment via email to the teacher.

Thank you for your support.

The faculty and staff of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama are praying for you daily.

May God bless you and keep you safe.

In Christ,

Dr. Nita. Carr

Dear Cornerstone Families,

As you know, Governor Ivey, The Center of Disease Control, Alabama Department of Public Health and the State Department of Education has made the recommendation for schools to close. Our priority at Cornerstone Schools is the health and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff. Always Excellence Together.

After careful consideration, Cornerstone Schools of Alabama will close at the end of day on Wednesday, March 18 and will tentatively reopen on April 6. All extracurricular activities will be canceled at this time. This is due to the state emergency declared by Governor Ivey.

Our teachers and staff have been preparing for this possible outcome. On Wednesday your students will receive an assignment package and will bring home the necessary materials to complete these assignments. Because of the scheduled spring break, these assignments will begin the week of March 30.

Please remember this situation is changing daily. As new developments take place, we will continue to update you.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nita Carr

President of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama
