Share the Joy

By Jacob May, Cornerstone Bible Teacher

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah the Lord.
Luke 2:10-11

When I think of joy, I am reminded of my trip to Africa this past summer. My friends and I stayed in a small village with people that had very little. Upon our arrival, the children in the village surrounded our truck with so much excitement that we could barely open the truck doors. One day, we purchased a soccer ball to give to the children. When we returned to the village, only one boy was there waiting for us. We gave him the ball and he ran off with it. To our surprise, he quickly gathered all the other children to play with the new ball. The boy was so full of joy and he wanted to share the gift with others!

Christmas time brings about similar joy for me. Of course, it is fun to decorate for the holidays, attend Christmas parties, and shop for the perfect gifts. But as Christmas draws near, may we all be reminded of the joy that was delivered in Bethlehem. May the joy of Christ Jesus’s birth flood our spirits with such excitement that we too want to quickly share the Good News with others!

Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
Psalm 32:11
