Week 2: Peace

Jesus Gives Peace

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”
John 14:27

As Christmas draws near, we reflect on God’s promise found in Isaiah 9:6: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” This passage reminds us of the peace God gave through the birth of his son, Christ Jesus. What a gift!

At Cornerstone, we believe that one of the best ways to experience God’s peace is through time spent in prayer. Our students demonstrate this each day during morning announcements which are followed by student-led prayer. From the youngest to the oldest, our children grow to understand that through life troubles, big and small, prayer is the ultimate way to find peace. Time and time again, we are humbled to see students praying with their classmates, praying during chapel services, and praying with their teachers. Even in the midst of hard situations, we see God’s peace flowing through the lives of our students!

As you prepare for Christmas, be reminded of the peace that God offers to every one of us. We invite you will join us as we pray for God’s peace:

Lord, thank you that you are with us even when we are going through big challenges. Help us to walk in peace during the weeks of Advent, as we wait and prepare for Jesus’ coming. Thank you for loving us enough that you would offer us peace through your son. In your blessed name we pray, Amen.

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.”
Isaiah 54:10
