Birmingham, Ala. – Cornerstone Schools of Alabama was awarded two additional Promising Practices in Character Education awards for the 2019-2020 school year. The awards are given through Character.org, an organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering ethical, engaged and compassionate citizens worldwide.

“We are extremely proud to recognize the schools and organizations that have developed and implemented a Promising Practice,” said Dr. Arthur Schwartz, President of Character.org. “Each of these programs and initiatives have demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with the principles that help schools and organizations cultivate a culture of character.”

Each year, best practices in the area of character education are submitted from all over the world. Cornerstone was one of only six schools in Alabama to receive this recognition. In the past two years, Cornerstone has received five total awards for character development initiatives.

“Aligning the character development with supporting scripture has been pivotal for our students,” said Dr. Nita Carr, President of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama. “It’s an honor for our students to be leaders in character education.”

Cornerstone’s award-winning practices were given for Daily Character Focus and Character Connections Groups. Cornerstone Schools is looking forward to continuing to develop these character programs and working alongside students to develop character both inside and outside the walls of Cornerstone.
