Cornerstone Teachers and Students Hope in Jesus Christ

 

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.“

Our amazing Cornerstone teachers are champions for our students every day.  By making our students feel loved, valued, and believed in, our teachers model the hope of believing in Jesus Christ.  Recently, one of our Seniors, Preston, was able to demonstrate this hope for Meredith McLemore, a Cornerstone teacher, through her diagnosis and battle with cancer.

Our staff noticed Preston bringing sunflowers to Mrs. McLemore. When asked why, Preston responded, “I want to remind her to keep her head up and look to the “Son” of God, Jesus Christ, who is with her every step of the way. I’ve known Mrs. McLemore since 8th grade. She has always been a cheerleader for all of us and has had a lot of positive influence in my life. She is always encouraging us, I wanted someone to encourage her for a change. I felt like she needed people outside her family to show that they were with her throughout this journey.”

Mrs. McLemore shared that she has been encouraged by Preston’s kindness. She shared, “He checks in on me every day. He brought me flowers every week during my chemotherapy treatments. Additionally, we encourage one another to persevere. Preston sticks up for everyone. He is always affirming his younger classmates and giving them positive advice. I am just one of many that he is showing God’s love to.”

Preston and Mrs. McLemore are wonderful examples of how together we can show hope and love to one another.
